Trevor Berry

My name is Trevor Berry. I live in SE Calgary with Melissa, my wife of 15 years, and my two kids: Cody (11) & Emma (9). I currently serve as the Associate Pastor at McKenzie Towne Church.

I have been in full-time pastoral ministry for 13+ years. I love serving Jesus in vocational ministry! In addition to pastoring I run a recruiting company, called Simple Hires, that helps small-to-medium sized businesses find great staff. Pastoral ministry & talent acquisition are two passions of mine and I am grateful that I get to do both. Recently, I have been able to pair these passions to help pastoral leaders find the right fit within churches. I fully believe that leadership has an immense influence on the local church.

My desire is to help churches find the right leaders so that they can fully live out Jesus' mission in the seasons ahead.

I have served in various pastoral roles in Alberta, BC, and Ontario. I have served in rural communities spending days out in harvest fields ministering to farmers when I worked in Wimborne, AB (bonus points if you have heard of it!). I have worked in urban environments and have hosted worship nights on the beaches of Vancouver while working as a Young Adult Pastor. I have served in churches that have had less than 60 people and churches that have had more than 4000 people. My hope is that these experiences allow me to connect and work alongside a variety of churches as they prayerfully search for their next pastor and ministry staff.

Here is an overview of my qualifications and experience.

I graduated from Rocky Mountain Bible College with a BA in Leadership Development. I have served in churches across Canada in various pastoral roles from 2009 - present. I was ordained with the Christian & Missionary Alliance in 2011. ​From 2013 - 2017, I trained as a Church Planter with the C2C Network and was able to help relaunch dying churches.

 

In the last few years, I have been able to dial in my passion for leadership development and I now primarily work with lay leaders to help them discover their God given call both inside & outside the church while providing the support for them to live it out. I love what I do!

In 2019, I became Certified as a Talent Management Practitioner through HR Canada. This formal training gave me a framework for Talent Acquisition and Succession Planning. More recently I have launched Simple Hires to help business build great teams. I am energized by seeing candidates find the right opportunities.

As I get to know more available pastors and searching churches, my hope is that I can help place leaders in the right context. 'Fit' is extremely important and I get excited thinking about how quality leaders can help strengthen local churches as they live out their purpose/mission!
